Ellwood was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but grew up in southern Idaho. He comes from a family of three boys and one sister. Before enlisting in the United States Navy, Ellwood worked as a youth mentor for two different wilderness therapy programs. He completed three overseas deployments and has traveled to numerous countries. He also works for the S.L.C Board of Education as a youth instructor. Ellwood likes to spend his free time riding his motorcycle, working out, and reading. Currently he is looking forward to graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in social working.
